First Snow

Our first snow storm. It almost feels like Christmas. We only got a few inches, but it was enough to enjoy. This picture is from my backyard.

UEA Weekend

Shot, Right on Target!

Logan had a successful muzzleloader hunt yesterday. He got a real nice four point. He aimed for the heart and shot it in the neck. Lucky shot or what? It's a trophy for Logan. Landon missed out on this hunt, but he did get a picture.

Rain, Rain, Go away!

Every time that we go on a trip with the buggy we have some kind of problem. This time, Mike's buggy ended up getting a flat tire. The rain was just getting started, so we headed back to camp while they waited for an air tank to pump the tire. We were all cold and definitely not prepared for the rainy weather.

On Saturday the 22nd, our family went to the Little Sahara Sand Dunes near Delta. It had been a while since Lyndsay had been to the dunes with us. Lacey and Landon were able to come, so it was really fun to have everyone there. It started as a beautiful day with overcast skies, but within two hours we had more rain than we needed. I didn't know that sand could be so messy when it gets wet. We were covered in wet sand. We were really hoping for a good day to try out our new rebuilt buggy. We never did get over to the Oasis to know how our buggy was going to run. However, it was fun to visit with my relatives.

Couple's Ride

On Saturday 15, 2007, Jerry and I went with two other couples from Elsinore to go on our annual four-wheeler ride. We have gotten together for the past seven years. We missed last year's ride, but we sure had fun this year. We went to Mayfield Canyon and rode the Pichot Trail, plus trail 22, 24, and 29. They were really fun trails. The leaves were absolutely gorgeous. I couldn't believe how beautiful the canyon was. We had an overcast sky for most of the day which made it so nice and pleasant. We spent most of the day on the mountain. Following our trip, we went to Monroe and had dinner at the Sagebrush grill. It was great. We had a really fun day. Hopefully, more couples can go next year.

Zion's Canyon Road Trip

On the way through Zion's Canyon you can see the handiwork of my ancestors. My great-grandpa was one of the men that helped to build the bridge and retaining walls in the canyon. I was very excited to get a picture of the bridge. I wanted to walk down under it, but I didn't have the best of shoes. I'm totally amazed at how skilled my ancestors were. They were some of the best brick masons in the area. Springdale is only one area where my ancestors used their masonry skills. If you travel to Wayne County or Sevier County you can see the workmanship of my ancestors.

On Saturday, September 8th, Mom, Tasha and myself took a road trip to Zion's Canyon. The weather was beautiful. It had been several years since I had been to Zion's Canyon. Tasha hadn't been to Zions for about fifteen years. My mom hadn't been to Zion's since my dad died. We used to travel to Springdale every year to decorate our family members' graves. We visited the cementary and was disappointed to see that the cementary was in such bad shape. The headstones were surrounded by weeds. I don't think any family members had decorated the graves since my mom had.

I was so surprised to see the way that Springdale has grown. It is a town for tourists. I can remember how it used to only have a few stores and a couple of gas stations. Now everywhere you turn there are gift shops or art galleries. My relatives' homes are surrounded by tourist attractions.

Labor Day Cleanup

This Labor Day weekend, some of my sisters and brother got together to clean up mom's yard. It is a big lot and it was more than I could take care of. We worked like crazy on Saturday and Monday. After many hours of hard labor the yard looks great. Now if we can keep it caught up. I had to take a picture so that I could remember how nice it looks.

Sunday night, we had a family get together at my house. We had lots of family show up and we had a good time. My sister, Tasha, was here from Soldotna, Alaska. Her daughter, Michelle and her boyfriend, Corey attended. Michelle and Corey are moving to Richfield. On a whim, they decided to move from Soldotna to Richfield. My sister, Tanya and her family was able to come help with the yard and attend the family get together. My brother, Wayde and his wife showed up from Las Vegas.

Skyline Drive Trip

Jerry and I talked Curt into being our guide today for another trip up Manti Mountain. Rather than head home this morning, we decided to go on a ride. We left around 9:30 a.m. and got back about 3:30 p.m. It was quite a trip. Curt took us on two trails that were difficult at times, but we loved it. I was really happy that I wasn't driving.

We put about 51 miles on our bikes and saw some beautiful scenery. The picture is above Palisades Campground. We traveled along Skyline Drive and down Manti Canyon. We missed going to the Milky Falls, but that's another trip.

Lately, every trip that we have taken on our four-wheelers has been in Manti. The mountain is beautiful and there are so many places to visit.

Four Wheeler Buddies

Manti Poker Run and Scavenger Hunt

We traveled to Manti this weekend to participate in the Manti Poker Run and Scavenger Hunt. We parked at the Manti City Park and spent two nights. Logan thought it was terrible to camp there. Anyway, we went with our sand dune buddies. We had a pretty big crowd. This is the fourth year that they have done the poker run and it keeps getting bigger. Friday, we had a nice dinner and entertainment. Jerry and I won a gift certificate for $25 and a thumb assist for a four-wheeler. On the poker run we won a 12 inch dutch oven.

We had quite an adventure on Saturday. Our guide's bike ended up with a flat tire, so we had a different guide coming back and he got lost two times. I was beginning to wonder if we would make it back to Manti. I'm not sure if we will go back next year or not, since we have other trips planned.

Manti Ride

On July 28, we went on a four wheeler trip on the Manti-LaSal Mountains. We went with Kurt and Becky Kjar. Kurt was our guide. It was so much fun. We traveled the Patton Trail. We had lunch at Logger's Reservior. I invited my sister, Tanya and her boys to ride along with us. I was really proud of the way she handled the trail.

On our trip we visited the Nielson Cabin, which is historical, and registered with the state. Lacey's Grandpa Duncan helped to build the cabin, so it was really neat to visit.
