Memorial Day

A picture of some of my relatives' gravestones.
This is the Springdale Cementary. Mom, Jerry and myself decided to take a road trip and decorate our relatives' graves. It was so disappointing to get to the cementary and see that our relatives didn't have any flowers. We have relatives that live in Santa Clara and no one bothered. For years, my mom and dad have been the only ones to decorate the graves in Springdale. We haven't been able to decorate the graves for three years, since my father passed away. In total, we decorated nine graves. They looked so nice when we were finished.

This is my Uncle Jerome's headstone. He was a park ranger for Zions Canyon for years. Two of my uncles were in the military, so we added a small flag. We had a nice trip. The weather was just right. Being in Springdale was great. I don't know what it is but I have such a connection to that place even though it has become such a tourist area. I spent lots of time in that area while I was growing up. I have tons of wonderful memories. Springdale has changed so much, but a few of the special places are still there.
The park has so many memories for me. I don't know if my children remember all of the trips that we took to Zion's Park or not, but hopefully, they have some nice memories. Today, I took loads of pictures of headstones, just in case, I might need them for my family genealogy. One of my goals this summer is to get two of my aunts sealed to my grandparents.
Anyway, while driving through the park today, I decided that I would love to take my whole family to Zions next summer and spent some time there visiting places that I enjoyed when I was there. I'd love to go this year, but Alaska is on our family agenda.
